Nicholas Monarch, “Dream State Series 2”

Road Map to the Dream State – Time, Movement, and Connections

VERNISSAGE:   Friday July 7th, 6PM –  9PM 2023 |  LOCATION: Salomon Arts Gallery

In this series, I dove deeper into the scientific nature of dreaming and reality. During the day, I researched several theories regarding dreaming, quantum mechanics and the nature of reality. At night, I had flashes of inspirations to describe what I read during the day and dreamt about the evening prior. Half of my brain was weighed down in reading books and texts and the other half was filled with colors, emotions, and insights. This gave rise to new perspectives where I sought to contrast the differences between the left-brain logical thinking versus the intuitive right-brain influences and their effects on dreaming.

Furthermore, my quest also centered around insights of the moon acting as a satellite for time and motion and its ability to influence our dreams based on the different stages of its orbit. I was also astonished by the visuals of what rapid eye movement looks like on a brain scan. My study of (REM) Rapid Eye Movement led me through several worm holes that acted as portals for further examination of time and its cyclical nature of pertaining to seasons and even the Circle of Life. Diving deeper, I found myself contemplating different etheric dimensional planes and the pathways in and around these dream landmarks I encountered. Thoughts regarding the constructs of day and night, optical spectral insight, daydreaming, and night dreaming appeared with an even greater intensity in this series.

Further, contemplation regarding the demographics of third and fourth density left me restless on many nights and clearly affected my sleeping patterns. Most importantly, at the height of creating my works, I found that the Escape button could not have been more influential as I dove deeper into the Dream State. Lastly, as a sign of true synchronicity, during the night of my last exhibition of Series 1, I dreamed a vivid vision of what I would create for the Series 2. It stuck with me and became the first painting in Series 2. While some sleep, I dream to finish building the temple not labored by hands but built in the labyrinth and construct of the mind.
