Salomon Arts presents:

Kseniya Wookse, “Life without frames… in 36 frames”

Scenic Artist’s first personal exhibition opens in Tribeca

If you’re a very young person, you may not be familiar with the “old-fashioned” photo cameras. No, not the digital cameras that cannot make phone calls. The REALLY old ones. With film. Yes, a roll of film that you had to insert into the camera. That roll would give you a chance to take up to 36 pictures. No second chances! If you spoil a shot – that’s it, just hope that nobody blinked. Xeniya “Wookse” Wooster’s idea was to recreate this experience by “taking” 36 pictures of children through the years. Only instead of the camera and the film, she used canvas and oil.

Again, no do overs!

A happily married mother of four, Wookse has her hands full continuously working as a Scenic Artist on a number of popular TV productions like Billions, The Loudest Voice, Pose, Dickinson, The Politician and others. Despite her hectic schedule, she manages to find time for her personal art projects, as well as, commissioned paintings and portraits.

Wookse was born in a small town in Kazakhstan (a part of the Soviet Union at a time). Because of her passion for drawing since early age, she studied at an Art School for Children. When she was 17, Xeniya entered State Academy of Arts in the city of Almaty (in already independent Republic of Kazakhstan), where she majored in Theater Art Production.

Since then Wookse pursued a career as a professional artist, specializing in oil paintings and portraits. Over the years she had personal exhibitions in Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Nort Macedonia, Canada, and New Jersey. Wookse was a Winner of Best of Show Award by Fort Lee Artists’ Guild in 2011. She also participated in numerous charitable exhibitions organized to help those in need.

In 2017 Wookse was accepted to a one of a kind Copyist Program in New York Metropolitan Museum Of Art. Later that year she has decided to go back to her academic roots and work in stage design and art decoration. Wookse has studied at an acclaimed Scenic Art Studio in Newburgh, New York and took classes at Florence Academy of Art in New Jersey. In two short years she became a member of United Scenic Artists Local USA 829 Union.

“Life without frames… in 36 frames” is Wookse’s first personal exhibition in New York
